The New Horizons team was crowned champions during the first edition of the Intercollegiate Girls Volleyball competition. This event was held at the premises of the Volleyball Hall of the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center in Santo Domingo.
The New Horizons team obtained the title by winning the final match against t San Judas Tadeo’s selection, achieving 2 sets to 0. Isabela Ferrand Baez with 9 points, Barnet Camila Cristina Ortiz and Maria Roman with 6 and 3 points, were recognized as the best offensive players respectively.
During the match, Santa Teresita bowed 2-1 against Notre Dame for the third place. Thanks to the contributions of Arianny and the offensive abilities of Michelle Castillo, who scored 9 points and Isamar Rosado, who produced 6. Pamela Maria Jorge from Notre Dame scored 14 points.
During the end of the championship games, an awards ceremony was led by Olga Santos, a Claro representative and Milagros Cabral our Sports Director of the National District of the Ministry of Sports and former captain of the national volleyball team.
St. Jude was awarded the trophy for second place and 50,000 pesos, while New Horizons received great Cup Champion and 100 thousand pesos and a cell equipment Alcatel One Touch.
In addition, Isabelle Ferrand Baez, from New Horizons, was awarded as Most Valuable Player, Pamela George from Notre Dame, as leader in points, attack and service, and Audrey Guzman of San Judas Tadeo, leader of blocks.
The 2015 Intercollegiate Sports Cup was represented by a wide number of schools in Santo Domingo with a total of 16 teams brepresenting the different schools.
New Horizons Bull Dogs achieve top places in the Saint Joseph Sports Cup.
Our New Horizons Bulldogs continue to stand out. They won first place in the different sports competitions. They also exhibited a good performance during the finals at the Saint Joseph School Cup. The Football team won bronze, the girl’s Volleyball team won silver, while the boys in Mini Basketball, won Bronze.
